2/27/2023 0 Comments Danbury race arena drivers![]() The racing was fierce in the first half of the race and many drivers. ![]() This event was sponsored by the Friends of the New Fairfield Library and held at the New Fairfield Senior Center.Īmong the drivers attending were Evie Pierce (who celebrated his birthday that very day, and had the crowd sing "Happy Birthday" to him), Lloyd Agor, Danny Archiere, John Jenkins, Bones Steven, Lou Funk Jr., Lou Pane, Billy Boo, Irv Straiton, Don LaJoie, Harry Hansen Jr. as it hosted the annual SNYRA Danbury Racearena reunion highlighted by the Ev. Paul Baker, as moderator for the group, kept the comments going as only he can do in his inimitable way. Likewise, because the drivers cooperate by always making an appearance in so many functions in the community, it is apparent that the memories linger on. Among the drivers attending were Evie Pierce (who celebrated his birthday that very day, and had the crowd sing 'Happy Birthday' to him), Lloyd Agor, Danny Archiere, John Jenkins, Bones Steven, Lou. These 12 drivers kept the crowd laughing for the better part of two hours, as well as throwing in some somber moments remembering the love of our famous Danbury racetrack.Įvery Saturday night from April through mid-October, fans numbering from 8,000 to 10,000 gathered to see and cheer on their favorite drivers, and still show their appreciation by attending any and all functions that involve the Racearena drivers. Although the track closed in 1981 when the fairgrounds were sold, the bond that existed for the many years of racing in Danbury still holds today. ![]()
